Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has released a Centralized Notification for Engagement of Act Apprentices for 2025-2026 and 2026-2027. Eligible candidates can apply online for 6777 Act Apprentice training slots in various Workshops, Divisions and Units under Northeast Frontier Railway.

Candidates who have completed Class 10 (Matriculation) and ITI in the relevant notified trade can apply, subject to fulfilling the eligibility conditions mentioned in the official notification.

Total Vacancies / Training Slots

Northeast Frontier Railway has announced a total of 6777 Act Apprentice slots across various Workshops, Divisions and Units under its jurisdiction.

Candidates are advised to carefully check the Unit, Department and Trade-wise training slots available in the notification before submitting their application.

Important: Each candidate is allowed to submit only one application.

Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for NFR Apprentice Recruitment 2026 must fulfill the following educational and technical qualifications:

The candidate must have passed Matriculation (Class 10) or its equivalent under the 10+2 system.
Candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Matriculation.
Candidates must possess a National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the relevant notified trade issued by NCVT or a Provisional Certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT.
Candidates must have the prescribed qualification and ITI pass certificate/NTC/STC as on the date of the notification.

Note: The minimum 50% aggregate marks requirement in Matriculation is not applicable to candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwBD categories, as specified in the notification.

For Medical Laboratory Technician Trades

For Laboratory Technician (Pathology) and Laboratory Technician (Radiology), the merit will be prepared based on the marks obtained in:

Minimum Age: 15 years
Maximum Age: 24 years

The age will be calculated as on the closing date of the online application.

Selection Process

The selection of apprentices will be based on merit.

The merit list will be prepared:

Unit-wise
Trade-wise
Community-wise

For most trades, the merit will be calculated using the average of:

Percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation
Percentage of marks obtained in ITI

There will be no separate written examination or interview mentioned for the merit-based selection process.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for Document Verification (DV).

Tie-Breaking Rule

If two or more candidates have equal marks:

The older candidate will be ranked higher.
If the date of birth is also the same, the candidate who passed Matriculation earlier will be considered first.

Training and Stipend

Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend as per the applicable rules.

As mentioned in the notification:

Minimum stipend for NTC/STC holders: ₹9,600 per month
Second year: ₹10,560 per month, where applicable
Third year: ₹11,040 per month, where applicable

The stipend rates may be revised from time to time according to the applicable government rules.

Important: No hostel accommodation will be provided to apprentices. Selected candidates will have to make their own arrangements.
